VENICE, Fla. -- A man had to be airlifted to the hospital after he was severely burned in a house fire Wednesday night in Venice. A Venice Firefighter was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a fire that took place in the 2700 block of Bonita Drive around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday night.
Fire departments from several agencies responded and extinguished the fire. The fire could be seen from I-75, according to SCSO.

The power in the area was shut down for safety reasons while the fire was being extinguished.
One resident, a man in his 50s, was transported by Bayflite to the hospital due to serious burns.
The State Fire Marshal and Red Cross also responded to the scene. Officials have not noted anything suspicious about the fire at this time.
