SARASOTA, Fla. - A person was found dead in a house fire in Sarasota over the weekend.
Sarasota Fire crews were called to the house at the 5800 block of New Covington Drive at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. When fire crews and patrol deputies arrived at the home, they found the house engulfed in flames.
Sarasota Fire crews extinguished the fire without it spreading to other homes.
Initially, Sarasota Firefighters did not find anyone inside the home. Later at 8 p.m., the State Fire Marshall arrived, searched the house and found an adult dead in the home. The identity of the person that died has not been released and the investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.
