PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- A death investigation is underway after a body was found in Boca Ciega Bay.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, 64-year-old Matthew Eelman, of Gainesville, was spotted leaving a friend's vessel around 1 a.m. Thursday. A little after 11 hours later, a citizen spotted a capsized boat in Boca Ciega Bay. That boat was later determined to be the same boat Eelman was last seen in.
Crews later found Eelman's body floating near Intercoastal Waterway Marker 29 in Boca Ciega Bay.
Deputies say the death appears accidental and not suspicious in nature.
