UPDATE: A suspect is in custody following a standoff inside a New Port Richey motel. Deputies tell Action News he is wanted for attempted murder.
Deputies have shut down US 19 in both directions from Avery to Main as a precaution.

ORIGINAL STORY: Deputies with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office say a wanted suspect has barricaded himself inside of a room at the Rodeway Inn in New Port Richey.
The motel is located at 6826 US 19 N.
The suspect has a warrant out for his arrest with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
Guests at the motel have been evacuated.
New Port Richey police officers are in communication with the suspect and attempting to get him to come out peacefully.
