Clearwater police officers and firefighters save injured bald eagle

Posted

Clearwater Police officers and Clearwater Fire & Rescue spent a portion of their morning rescuing an injured bald eagle that was sitting in the middle of Countryside Boulevard on Wednesday morning.

Police say the eagle may have been hit by a car while trying to feed on a dead animal in the northbound lanes of the road.

A wildlife rescue specialist was called to the scene to assist the officers and firefighters.

The eagle was taken away for treatment and suffered an injury to its right wing.

The bald eagle will be cared for by Owl's Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife.
