TAMPA, Fla. — A fire at a strip mall damaged several businesses late Tuesday night.

The fire broke out around 9:50 p.m. at 3260 W. Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the northeast side of the building.

Crews with Tampa Fire Rescue determined flames were burning inside a clothing store that was closed for the night.

Officials called for more firefighting units to help minimize property damage due to the size of the strip mall.

People safely evacuated a night club located at the opposite end of the strip mall.

Firefighters got the fire under control by 11:00 p.m.

Investigators from the Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
