If you feel like you're paying a lot for car insurance, you are!
Five, Bay Area counties have the highest auto insurance premiums in the state.
Hillsborough County ranks fourth for the most expensive car insurance premiums in Florida.
A new study from InsuranceQuotes.com shows Florida as the sixth most expensive state for insurance. Floridians are paying an average of $1,546 a year and depending on where you are, that could be higher or lower.
What's driving the cost higher?
The study shows living in more densely populated areas comes with a higher likelihood of accidents, because there are more drivers on the road.
Simply put, when you have more drivers, you have higher rates.
Hillsborough isn't the only Bay Area county feeling the pinch of high, auto insurance rates though.
It's closely followed by Pasco, Pinellas and Hernando Counties. Polk came in at eleventh and Manatee at sixteenth.
