BRANDON, Fla. -- Hillsborough County deputies are investigating a deadly crash involving three pedestrians.

The Sheriff's Office says the crash occurred Sunday evening at Providence Road just north of Providence Ridge Boulevard.

Hillsborough County deputies say that Tanaysha Troutman, Victoria Patten, and Arlene Stephanie Jordan Cruz stopped their vehicles in the median turn lane of Providence Road. They were standing outside of their vehicles arguing when all three walked into the southbound median travel lane of Providence Road and were struck by a driver traveling south at approximately 40 miles per hour.

Two of the pedestrians, 28-year-old Tanaysha Troutman and 23-year-old Victoria Patten, died at the scene. Paramedics transported the third pedestrian, Arlene Stephanie Jordan Cruz, 38, to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Sheriff's Office says Patten and Troutman were involved in a domestic argument that started earlier in the evening. They pulled over to continue the fight.

Investigators are still trying to find out what the argument was about.

Deputies say the driver of the car involved, Guillermo R. Ruiz, 22, remained at the crash scene and is cooperating with detectives. Deputies say Ruiz had an odor of alcohol on his breath and admitted to drinking beer earlier in the evening. He submitted to a blood draw, charges may follow pending the toxicology report.
