SPRING HILL, Fla. -- After many complaints were received about a dangerous blind spot along a popular trail, crews will now work to make it safer. Construction crews on the Suncoast Trail in Spring Hill are working to widen the curve.

Fran Gorskie says she's had many close calls while riding her bike around the 90 degree curve."I'm always cautious when I go around that curve."

Rene Schalen says he always has to look behind for bikes him when he walks his dog, Lady, near the curve. "Because you never know when they come."

The reason you never know, is because on that sharp curve there’s a privacy fence that completely blocks the view for anyone coming on the trail.

Robert Gulick always rides his bike on the trail and says the curve is dangerous, "They’ll be packs of bikers, six or eight bikers at a time so this is really be a safety hazard."

After many complaints about the area, the Florida Department of Transportation has hired workers to widen a 350 feet section of the trail to “soften” the curve.

Gulick said, "I think its going to be a lot safer to provide more clearance and more visibility."

They say the project should be done in a few weeks.
