Pinellas Wolf Pack operation nets 15 DUI arrests

A Pinellas County DUI Wolf Pack operation conducted by Pinellas County sheriff's deputies, Florida Highway Patrol and various police agencies in the county took 15 DUI suspects off the streets since Friday, authorities said.

The countywide law enforcement operation also netted 4 misdemeanor charges for driving with suspended or revoked license, 8 possession of a controlled substance misdemeanor charges, 1 possession of a controlled substance felony charge and 3 other misdemeanor arrests.

The sheriff's office report did not specific how many individuals were charged.

There also were citations written for 17 driving with a suspended or revoked license, 43 speeding citations, 1 red light violation, 7 no insurance, 21 other non-moving violations, 30 other moving violations, 1 violation driver's license restrictions and 9 seatbelt violations.

The joint operation was aimed at reducing DUI related injuries and deaths, the sheriff's report states.

It was carried out by Pinellas sheriff's deputies in partnership with the Florida Highway Patrol and  police departments in St. Petersburg,  Clearwater, Pinellas Park, Gulfport, Indian Shores, Largo and Tarpon Springs.
