A 36-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for robbing a bank in Port Richey will appear before a judge today.
Steve Leon Coley Jr. will have a first appearance hearing at 1 p.m. today at the Pasco County Judicial Center in Dade City.
According to Pasco County sheriff's deputies, at about 1:43 p.m.. Wednesday, Coley entered the Bank of America, 8338 Embassy Blvd. in Port Richey, to open an account.
The suspect provided a Florida driver's license as identification, but was told he needed $25 to open an account, which he apparently did not have, a Pasco County Sheriff's Office news release states. He left the bank but returned at 2:47 p.m. and demanded money from the teller.
The robber received an undisclosed amount of cash and left he bank. A short time later, a patrol deputy responding to the bank, noticed Coley walking down the street counting money. He matched the description of the bank robbery suspect and the amount of money he had on him matched the amount robbed from the bank.
Coley was arrested and has been booked into the Land O' Lakes Detention Center.
