Hillsborough County Fire Rescue firefighters battled a two-alarm warehouse fire on Benjamin Road in northwest Hillsborough County early Sunday morning.

The fire is under control; no injuries were reported. As of yet, the cause has not been released.

At about 4:20 a.m. someone made a 911 call to Hillsborough County fire dispatch operations to report a commercial structure fire in the 6300 block of Benjamin Road, a Hillsborough County Fire Rescue release said.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they spotted heavy fire and smoke through the roof. HCFR officials called for a second alarm to request additional fire units and crews.

Ladder trucks were brought in to give an elevated attack on the roof of the warehouse, the release said.

The fire was quickly knocked down on the roof. Crews moved inside the warehouse, where they found heavy smoke. They started an interior attack on the fire.

The warehouse is a metal building. Crew members are monitoring the stability of the building. They also have been keeping an eye on neighboring businesses to make sure flames did not spread.

Several vehicles located close to the warehouse were damaged. Firefighters had the fire under control in about one hour.

Firefighters remain on the scene to mop up hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
