Polk County firefighters responded before dawn Sunday to the scene of a two-alarm structure fire that caused authorities to close State Road 60 in Mulberry due to a mix of smoke and fog.
The building at 3845 S.R. 60 is believed to be an abandoned vehicle repair shop, according to Polk County officials.
Chemicals inside the building caused additional explosions at the site, raising it to a two-alarm fire.
Responding units included three battalion chiefs, fire engines 711, 481, 721 and 751, and an air truck. Medic rescue units 721 and 481 also were on the scene.
No injuries were reported.
No one was believed to be in the building at the time of the fire, Polk County spokeswoman Mianne Nelson said in a media release. The fire marshal will investigate to determine the cause of the fire.
By 9:50 a.m. Sunday S.R. 60 had been reopened to traffic in both directions.
